This ongoing series contemplates the imprint that humans leave on the environment. Exploring pockets of urban wild space around local waterways and navigating city blocks I find a large assortment of discarded wood and other detritus either washed up or left behind as trash. For me there is an inherent beauty in much of the junk I see everyday. Preparing the found materials to become part of something new I make connections to each object. Where did it come from? Did it travel far? What was the former history and purpose? These thoughts, the surface patterns and location inform my work as I combine the reclaimed wood pieces, adding paint, paper and other media.
